The common ivy Hedera helix provides much inspiration for embroidery and decoration as its fruits and lobed leaves carried on long stems are simple forms to work with. The trailing nature of the plant fully lends itself to the edges of bedding and the leading edges of curtaining.

Vine stems provide larger, but in many ways similar, inspiration and the leafy stems of both or either make perfect natural table runners.
