So what exactly is Kantha ?
Here are some of things we’ve done with our very simply worked, colourful kanthas – actually not much as it happens, but then that’s just the point !!! Bengal in the northeast of India has an embroidery tradition that we have all come to recognise. It’s called...
Calluna means ‘to sweep clean and make beautiful.’ We had the name, from the beautiful flower of the open moorlands, before we knew the derivation; it’s totally appropriate for the work we do – creating order and beauty through restoration and refurbishment. The transformation of space into welcoming, comfortable homes fit for todays lifestyle, spaces that belong to and reflect the characters of those who live there. Our workrooms have cut, stitched and fitted the bespoke interior furnishings for our clients homes since 1975. Over this time we have trained many to make their own furnishings by mentorship and with Calluna Workshops programmes. Here we are happy to share the same inspirations and time honoured techniques, those that we use and have honed over decades. Techniques that we know work.
