A length of material that is gathered in varying degrees of fullness, usually to edge accessories–cushions, throws, tablecloths, dressing table covers and bed covers. A deeper frill fixed to a straight band makes an informal pelmet, bed valance or curtain hem.

Frills can be made from double, triple or multi materials, trimmed, bound or braided, mostly depending on fashion and location.
