The deep purple-red coloured skin  of the classic Victoria plum, or even the damson : great for winter rooms, studies and library walls, and to hang almost any oil paintings against.

Damson is on the blue side of red, along with aubergine and works particularly well with gilding and with greeny blues, and with all other red-based colours, such as scarlet, oranges and purples.
