An ornamental hanging or covering–a surround–often pinned around a door or window frame, behind which curtains are hung. It is especially typical of early days curtaining, where the actual window covering would have been made of plain wool with little or no fullness. Today lambrequins are most often used to make some sort of window feature for sheers or simple wool drapes.
