Colour is the result of light reflecting off a solid substance; colours brighten in sunlight and fade away in shadow. How light works is a question that has kept physicians on their toes for centuries but for our purposes it’s about how we use colour and what can work with what, the effect of sunlight on colour and the effect each has on the other.
In simplest form Newton’s tangible representation of the rainbow identifies colour for us, and from this simple wheel, showing complementary and opposite colours, hues, tones and tints, we can create and manipulate colour to our delight.
