Pilling, or the forming of little bobbles on a woollen surface, is always a problem with woollen clothing. The best furnishing fabrics for seating are prepared using an anti-pilling process to keep the fabric sleek and long lasting.
If there is a tendency to pill or catch, keep the cloth as straight as possible whilst it’s being made up. It’s the lower quality textiles that might pill. As curtains don’t take the hard wear that clothes do, a less expensive, luxury fabric can be safely used. For knitted cushions and bed throws, choose the best yarn; keep an eye on the cloth and brush it regularly.
