Sylva: Side Buttoned Cushion

£5.00

One up from the basic scatter cushion –  a single line of buttoning adds a couture detail which, especially  when it’s subtle, elevates it to a new level. Any extra touch of colour, size or shape that complements the main fabric will  in some manner enhance the whole.

Buttons can be larger or smaller, placed closer together or further apart or in patterns – our pattern includes such options

Description

Side Buttoned Cushion
One up from the basic scatter cushion – this time with a row of buttons along one side. They look great and add a new dimension – even when as subtle as these.   Easy to make  if you’ve made a scatter cushion and buttonholes before; there’s nothing complicated about it, you just need to decide whether to stitch the buttonholes by hand or by machine.  Or if you like the look and  have some fabric you’re dying to use but can’t bear the thought of buttonholes, you can always cheat by stitching  false buttons through.None of the processes is in itself complicated, the instructions are simple and it’s  small enough to make on the kitchen table, so it’s possible to pick it up and put it down, take your time over it, and enjoy the process…..
.
The pdf includes: fabric suggestions; cutting dimensions; simple and precise instructions; our tips, guides and watchpoints.
.
Fabrics: any; the only criteria is how easy it is to stitch a buttonhole into and your on level of experience with such things. The buttonholes can be made by hand or machine, but a fabric that frays freely could cause some problems.

Level: confident beginner plus
