A soft, even sided twill usually in silk, but also in silky fibres such as polyester, typically used in fashion. It is very slippery and therefore not so easy to handle nor very durable as furnishing fabric, so confine the use to bed curtain linings, sunray pleating, or better still, as the underlining for lace or other sheer fabrics–where you want a lightweight fabric with colour, floaty-ness and sheen.
