To do away with anything extraneous and bring something back to its basics. In a home, it’s sometimes easy to get carried away and over do it at any stage and in furnishing, especially if you love textiles, creating and making, and basically love things. Taking away, editing, simplifying is something we nearly all need to do for our own sanity and it is essential if we are to portray a clear message or statement of style and welcome, hospitality.
A word of encouragement to those with eclectic tendencies–I have noticed that those on the other end of the scale tend to never have quite enough, sometimes creating a space that doesn’t look quite finished, even ‘on edge’. One more cushion, painting or chair would make the whole environment feel just that bit more comfortable, and welcoming.
