From Italian, meaning ‘a thousand flowers’, a design that can be found in any pattern or embroidery with massed flower heads. More specifically, it describes mosaic beads, a typical Venetian glass technique and a decorative motif, in which multi-coloured glass canes, or rods (called murine), are assembled in such a way that their cross-sections suggest petals, thousands of flowers.
