Dhurries laid out for sale at our weavers home in Rajasthan, India.

A thick, flat, woven covering made in cotton, wool, jute or silk woven in various parts of India and Pakistan on either a vertical or a horizontal loom. They traditionally serve as portable floor coverings, as meditation rugs, and sometimes as tablecloths. They are now made in almost any size and exported for area rugs.

The chest in the foreground is covered in the typical blue and white dhurri ; Guinevere Antiques  for  Calluna, Heather Luke

Shyam Ahuja  made us aware of dhurries and  the history is recorded in this book- see below.

This is a typical design called Azam.
