Cupro is a relatively new fabric, similar to Tencel, derived from the residue of cotton fibres:
a) similar to rayon in feel, but with the breathing and temperature regulating qualities of cotton
b) as a silk substitute, cupro has the ability to drape beautifully with the bonus that it can be machine-washed and machine dried.
c) cupro is a hypoallergenic, antistatic fabric that keep it’s shape and form
d) regenerated from the cotton linter – the very fine, silky fibres that stick to the seeds of the cotton plant after it’s been ginned. A solution of ammonia and copper oxide is used to obtain the fibres, lime rayon the fibre is natural but the treatment required renders the classification ‘artificial.’
