A crown-like structure that holds draperies above the centre of the bed, to fall to each corner, usually caught to the top of each corner post, where they are bunched up, tied up or left to hang loose.
If the drapes hanging from a small central coronet are too heavy they will drag on the corner posts , so it’s advisable to choose silks, muslins or fine cottons,
However if the coronet is large and solid any weight of fabric drapes can be accommodated from the very finest muslins to the heaviest damasks of embroideries.
