Also called Oriental stitch, this is actually a combination of two stitches–a surface stitch and Bukharan couching. Unspun silk is used to cover the area in satin stitch, and then a plied silk thread is laid over at right angles and secured at each end, and at regular intervals with a ‘couching’ stitch.
