Or Shahtoosh, a very fine shawl made from the very finest down hair hand-collected from under the chin of the long-horned Tibetan antelopes and woven in Kashmir. Shatoush, meaning ‘king of fine wools’ in Persian, makes a very warm and lightweight scarf–so fine a whole scarf will fit through a wedding ring, hence being known as a ‘ring shawl’. It is very exclusive and expensive and subject to tight export controls, but if you happen upon an older one or a piece too small for a scarf, it makes a fabulous tiny luxury bed cushion cover.
