Also called Murano glass beads. Venetian glass artisans have made beads for thousands of years, that are unrivalled in terms of colour and complexity. Venetian beads are made by glass blowing, by winding hot glass around a mandrel–a spindle, or by stretching molten glass around a core.
Multiple colours, layers and surface decoration are worked into the glass before it has a chance to cool; the sure hands and eyes of the artists are what makes these beads endlessly fascinating, diverse, and very useable in furnishings, particularly to decorate cushions.
