Mio: Lampshade Slip-cover

£5.00

A cover to slip over any card or fabric shade. This is a really useful lampshade pattern, it’s straightforward to make, yet the bound tops and bottoms make it smart enough to hold it’s own in any room. It’s also completely reversible.

The fabric can be changed to virtually anything, to suit whatever you need it to do, and the shade lends itself well to variation and adaptation. A highland plaid for the study ? Sheer linen for the dressing table ? The question is only about how much light you want it to give- should it come from the bottom and top only, or diffuse through the sides as well ?

A simple-to-make slip cover for any shade or frame, old or new.

There’s nothing complicated about it, but it will help if you know how to sew, how to handle layers of materials and to make stitch neatly. However, it’s small enough to make on the kitchen table,  the instructions are direct and simple – so you can pick it up and put it down, take your time over it, and enjoy the process…..

The pdf includes: fabric suggestions; cutting dimensions; simple and precise instructions; our tips, guides and watchpoints.

Fabric: any light- medium weight plain or stripe; checks or florals will work just as well. Beginners should avoid anything geometric. Ian Mankin offer a good section of suitable cotton stripes online.
