Relating to Egypt. The culture of Ancient Egypt has been hugely influential–forming the building blocks of countless subsequent art forms, architectural style and textiles.

The ancient Egyptians were the first to use stone for building instead of wood, as this was what was available. We have only just began to understand the mathematical ability and ambition displayed, for example, in the pyramids–tombs that have withstood the test of time, as part of the ritual of passage to the next life, illustrating the machineries of living and the accumulated wealth that should accompany them in death.

Furniture and interior decoration started with the Egyptians. The earth colours and techniques used in Egyptian paintings are still unsurpassed and pretty much unchanged. Their manuscripts and wallpapers are a mine of inspiration for colour schemes.
